John McEnroe and Bjorn Borg in Very Funny Tennis Competition Commercial Advertisement for Tesco Supermarkets UK in 2007. This amusing ad for Tesco http://www.tesco.com/ has our two retired, but still competitive, tennis stars racing round the aisles and shelves of a Tesco store to see who can make the checkout first. The closing scene shows Bjorn Borg holding up a packet of disposal plates in a mocking gesture to John McEnroe. The plates look like the Wimbledon runner -up silver plate. Borg beat McEnroe in the 1980 Wimbledon final but the positions were reversed in the 1981 final. It has stores in 14 countries across Asia, Europe and North America and is the grocery market leader in the UK (where it has a market share of around 30%), Malaysia, the Republic of Ireland and Thailand. The company was founded in 1919 by Jack Cohen as a group of market stalls. The Tesco name first appeared in 1924, after Cohen purchased a shipment of tea from T. E. Stockwell and combined those initials with the first two letters of his surname…”
